0. This video is about my second term at Yonsei University's Korean Language Institute. 1. Here is a video of my class on the last day. In this video, we're playing a game in which one person describes a vocabulary word and people try to guess it. We got a lot of free food on the last day of class. Here is another class video. There's the teacher, Bang Chung, Jeongja, Kanemoto, Heogang is raising his hand, there's Gwanso, there's Chunmei raising her hand, with Yusuke in the background, and there's Yeja with a most upright raised hand. 2. In Level 1 my class was mostly western. In other words, friends were made on an individual basis, but the class rarely "hung out" as a group. However, in Level 2, I found myself in a class that frequently had no other westerners -- just Chinese, Japanese, and Taiwanese. There was much more class-wide camaraderie, and we would often go to Noraebangs, restaurants, and bars, as a class. No one invited the teachers, however. I guess Asian students don't think it's as cool to see the teacher drunk as western students do. 3. This term, the Kimchi Season that comes right before winter, known in Korean as the "Kimjangcheol," began. Here is a picture of our hasukjip's ajumma, on the back porch, cutting up a heap of cabbage known as "baechu," with a rather large knife. 4. This term, I studied a little bit of hanja with Mijeong, but most of the time we spent working on her new youth hostel. However, I'm not complaining, because she, along with the co-founder, Peolpeol, have said that I can stay there for free whenever I want -- even live there. In this picture, you can see Peolpeol on the left, Mijeong second from the left, me, and Seungho on the right. Here is a picture of Mijeong and Bona making a fluorescent-lit sign for Golden Pond Guesthouse. Here is a picture of Mijeong and Bona holding up the information that will go on the fluorescent-lit sign. 5. One day, in an amazing coincidence, I ran into Makiko, a friend from Japan who teaches Japanese in Cambodia. She just happened to be touring Korea, and I ran into her on the street in Shinchon. Here are some photos of us and her friends at a restaurant. 6. This term, the soju companies advertised quite heavily. I¡¯m not really sure, but I guess that alcohol consumption and cold weather go hand-in-hand. This is a picture of the Chamiseul soju company¡¯s men on stilts. Here is another Chamiseul soju company picture. It may not be apparent from the picture, but this Chamiseul soju woman is driving a Segway.
